This month, KLM will begin to offer flights from mainland Europe to new destinations including Windhoek, Namibia, and Iran. The Amsterdam-based airline will re-add these two destinations as improved global relations prompted interest in these locales from mainland Europe.

Beginning Oct. 30, KLM will resume service to Tehran, Iran (IKA). The original service began in 1991 but was suspended in 2013 due to tense relations between the Middle Eastern country and Western nations. With increased interest in tourism among European and North American travelers as well as improved relations among nations, the service will resume, bringing the Dutch airline's Middle Eastern destinations to a total of nine cities.

KLM will also offer flights to Windhoek (WDH), the capital city of the African nation Namibia. For the first few months, flights will connect through Luanda, the capital of Angola. The thrice-weekly route will allow Europeans to visit increasingly popular eco-tourism resorts and engage in memorable excursions through the desert. Namibia is projected to experience a tourism growth at an annual rate of 8.8 percent through the year 2025.
