A survey by French travel website Allovoyages.fr compared the cost of lodging at all European holiday resorts during the month of August to find the spots that will really blow the budget.

Only accommodation rated at least 3 stars was considered.

Unsurprisingly, the most expensive beach destination in Europe is Playa d'en Bossa, a popular resort on the Spanish island of Ibiza.

The most expensive resort in France is Saint Tropez, which features as the 5th most expensive destination.
